A Baseball Story
By David Garner
I am, and will remain, a life-long baseball fan.
From my earliest memories, through high school (my final season), I was able to play the game.
Those early years included many memories involving baseball;
trying chewing tobacco for the first time (I threw up),
playing Little League baseball with my friends in the Arizona summer heat,
attending my first Major League game (Anaheim, age 11, with my Grandfather),
traveling to another town to play a game (Kingman, completely dirt field in 7th grade), and
the first time I met a real Major League player (Rick Monday, A’s, spring training 1968).
As an adult, I was able to teach my boys about the game, watch them play the game (which is very hard for a parent), and take them to MLB games (which I’ve been fortunate enough to do). And as a retiree, who cannot wait for the next season to start.
